meet balex

balex is an american-filipino songwriter, producer, multi-instrument music artist based in jacksonville, florida. he spent his childhood between the us east coast and kuwait, using the saxophone and concert performance as a tether. he spent his early-adulthood on the move, learning string instruments and music production near and in the rocky mountains of colorado. 

his music manifests as indie rock that feels like you’re overhearing his internal monologue, like if fleetwood mac’s rumours era were produced by mac demarco. his debut album king of the wallflowers, released under the moniker balexdotmp3, is the result of his 20’s adulthood adventure turned sour, but beautiful. not shying away from his lonliness, yearning, and guilt, he carefully crafted each track in his portable home studio, spending his days working at a ski resort and his nights recording and refining. the album’s creation bled into his move back home to jacksonville, where he further reflected on his adventure and wrapped the album in a neat bow. 

balex’s current goal is to vitalize the jacksonville indie rock scene, cementing himself as a cornerstone in a community of people that want to feel less alone in florida’s biggest city. after traveling to baltimore in september to play the main stage at the 2026 maryland cigar box guitar festival, his sights are aimed at playing jack rabbits, the walrus, and pop-up shows. in addition, he’s collecting the songs from the past year that will make up his future singles and follow-up album.
