this is balex
balex writes the kind of songs that feel like an inner monologue you happened to overhear. recording and releasing entirely on his own terms as balexdotmp3, he moves between indie rock and alternative hip-hop with a raw, unpolished honesty — the space between wanting to be known and needing to be left alone.
he started on saxophone before picking up guitar in high school, but it wasn't until mid-2024 — sitting at the edge of a pool, dissociating — that he wrote his first original lyrics, after years spent quietly experimenting with instrumentals on his own.
what started as a five-song EP grew, over a winter spent chasing mountain-town living and writing wherever he could — a bus seat at beaver creek, a bench in nottingham park, the floor of his avon studio apartment — into king of the wallflowers, his eleven-track debut, released july 31, 2026. built entirely DIY with guitar from collaborator connor, the album moves through feeling unheard, distance from family, and solitude chosen as self-respect.
